Town holding breath for big change

Welshpool was tonight on red alert as the historic switch to a one-way system was set to go live.

The Town Mayor and councillors were touring the town, visiting all the pubs  and explaining the new routes to anyone they could talk to.

And Town Clerk Robert Robinson was also out with Powys County Council officials looking at problem areas including controversial sign positions.

Early morning commuters are facing up to new routes around the town as the new one-way system goes live .

And shoppers who normally park outside The Spar and Sainsbury Supermarkets were facing up to parking restrictions that could change their shopping habits.
