Beheaded deer found on private land

The shooting season is well and truly upon us, but a grim discovery has shocked police.

With hundreds of shooters heading to Mid Wales for organised shoots, police have launched an investigation after a magnificent stag was found shot and beheaded on private land, with its body left to rot.

“The stag was shot illegally on private woodland near Llanerfyl,” said a spokesperson for Llanfyllin Police. “The head was taken as a trophy and the rest of the carcass was left behind.”

The grim discovery was made by the land owner and police are keen to hear from anyone with information on their non-emergency line of 101.
