Welshpool Livestock Sales report on a sale at Buttington Cross, Welshpool on Monday.
OTMS (54)
A smaller entry of cull cattle this week topping at £1344.75 (165ppkg) for a 815kg Limousin from CV & EM Lewis, Buttington New Hall. R O Williams & Sons, Caerddaniel, presented a Charolais otm cow weighing 805kg making £1046.50 (130ppkg).
Younger cows topped at £1479.06 (166ppkg) for a 891kg Charolais from Roberts & Jones, Parc. Heifers under 48 months reached £1088.76 (172ppkg) for a Limousin weighing 633kg from DP Evans, Moel Y Garth Farm. TH & AB Jones, Barhedyn, sold a Limousin weighing 522kg making £939.60 (180ppkg).
Cows 48 – 72 months (x4) averaged 139.37ppkg / £975.94.
Heifers under 48 months (x13) averaged 139.64ppkg / £783.08.
Bulls under 72 months (x3) averaged 123.77ppkg / £1242.64.
Overall average of 115.36ppkg.

An entry of 5468 prime lambs met with an average of 166.46ppkg.
Lights (298) to 166ppkg from CP & VM Andrew & Son, Bronfedw. Others to 164ppkg from RGK Hodnett, Willey House. Average of 141.24ppkg.
Standards (1245) to 188ppkg from I W Richards, Park Farm. Others to 188ppkg from D R Owen & Sons, Sandilands. Average of 163.88ppkg.
Mediums (2452) to 215ppkg from E B Ellis, Penisarcwm. Others to 204ppkg from BE & BE Langford, Llettymeibion. Average of 169.73ppkg.
Heavies (1222) to 205ppkg from T K Robinson. Tynewydd . Others to 183ppkg from T H Vaughan & Son, Maes Mochnant Uchaf. Average of 164ppkg.
Over Weights (184) to 167pkg from JM & BJ Langford & Son, Pwllan. Others to 161ppkg from D N Bennett & Son, Upper Hall. Average of 150.40ppkg.
CULL SHEEP (2767)
A good entry of culls again this week which saw averages of £41.66 for ewes. Trade was very similar on ewes. Topping the ewe section at £109 from M & H Owens, Glantre. D Gethin, Llanyhared, presented a ewe making £101. A large entry of smaller un- fleshed welsh ewes were forward which were harder sold. Middle of the road ewes were ranging from £35 -£45. Well fleshed mules and continentals were in great demand ranging from £75 - £90. D J Lloyd & Co, Cefnbarrach, sold an entry of ewes achieving £100, as well as presenting well finished mules which achieved £85.

STORE LAMBS (1014)
A steady entry of store lambs this week saw a top of £70 for a Texel tup lamb from S Lane, New Hall. NG & GG Davies, Trawsgelli, presented a pen of Texel x tup lambs making £67. Mixed and clean lambs reached £63 from CMA Botwood, Gwrid Farm. C Lloyd, Ty Ucha, sold a pen of Texel x mixed and clean lambs for £62. Theave lambs topped at £63 for a pen of Texel x from CE & GJ Roberts, Rhydycil.
Theave Lambs (270): £42.85.
Mixed/clean lambs (322): £48.76.
Tup lambs (341): £47.94.
Wether lambs (76) : £47.46.
