Powys County Council has listened to the concerns of a village council and blocked development plans for 36 homes in Four Crosses.

Last week we reported that Powys was expected to rubber stamp the development after it was recommended for approval by their own planning officers, who said that the need for housing outstripped objections.

But concerns expressed by the local community were shared by Llandysilio Community Council who objected because it was outside of their development plan.

They had stated: “The argument for the supply of housing in Powys cannot be allowed to overrule planning policies and principles.”

It is not known whether the application, which included eight ‘affordable dwellings’ from Mervyn Jones will be resubmitted.
