Welshpool’s clampdown on its drugs scene continued last night with another successful raid on a property in Oldford that resulted in three arrests.

An operation, weeks in the planning and supported by information provided by the public, was executed superbly by Welshpool officers at tea time, with heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis recovered.

But, more importantly, it sends a clear message that the public and police have had enough, with this being the latest in a number of successful drugs arrests in the town this year.

“Great proactive work by Welshpool Police this evening, acting on community intelligence to prevent the supply of drugs,” tweeted Superintendent Jon Cummins, the Commander for Powys.

Worryingly, a taser weapon, disguised as a torch (pictured) was also recovered in the raid, which one officer described as a “shock” to find.

The three people arrested are expected to face charges of possession and intent to supply.
