Female firefighting first for Welshpool

Welshpool has welcomed its first ever female firefighter who reported for duty this week.

Ffion Evans has been in the service for two years, stationed at her home town of Llanfair Caereinion, but has added Welshpool to her duty thanks to her role as a fitness instructor at the Flash.

“Firefighting is an ever-changing, highly rewarding occupation,” said Ffion. “Being a part of both crews in Llanfair and Welshpool will be an exciting venture into my fire service career.”

The lads at Welshpool welcomed Ffion with a Tweet saying: “We would like to welcome Firefighter Ffion Evans who joined our team on Monday. Ffion is the first female firefighter to serve at Welshpool. A very warm welcome from everyone.”
