Teenager changes child sex offences plea to guilty

A Welshpool teenager has now admitted a number of sex offences against schoolgirls, after changing his plea at Mold Crown Court.

Kieran Mark Goodwin had previously pleaded not guilty and a trial was due to be held next month.

But The Daily Post is reporting that he appeared via a live television link from custody, and his barrister Simon Rogers asked that the charges be put to him again and he changed his pleas to guilty.

Goodwin, 19, of Little Henfaes Drive, Welshpool, pleaded guilty to 23 offences of causing a child to watch a sexual act, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.

He also admitted one charge of common assault and two charges of damaging iPhones.

One charge of sexual activity with a child which he denied was allowed to remain on the file at the request of prosecuting barrister John Philpotts.

He had previously admitted further charges which will all be sentenced at the same time.

Judge Rhys Rowlands, who was told that there were eight complainants, told Goodwin that he would receive credit for his guilty pleas, but added that he can expect a custodial sentence “of some length”.

He was remanded in custody pending his sentence on May 24.
