Dogs seized by police

Two dogs have been seized by Welshpool police after a tip-off that they could be pit bull cross breeds.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers executed a warrant under the Dangerous Dogs Act in Llanfair Caereinion after being contacted that they were being advertised through social media.

The animals are now being kept in kennels while tests are carried out to confirm their breed.

Sergeant Tom Marshall said: “We received information that pit bull-type dogs were advertised for sale via social media.

“We were sent photographs of the dogs, and this resulted in the application for a warrant under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

“The dogs will be kept in kennels while they are type-tested, and if they are found to be pit bulls, the owners will be prosecuted as it is an offence to possess this breed.”
