We’re going pot-ty!

With warmer weather finally here, motorists will be hoping that the pot hole problem blighting the county’s roads will soon be sorted.

A recent report showed that our roads were among the worst in Britain, and after local residents took to social media to mock their condition, Powys County Council has responded by saying work is in full swing.

The ‘fishing’ shot was taken near Tesco while the ‘pot-ted plant’ shot was taken outside Llansantffraid-Ym-Mechain School and posted by David Ellis-Jones who told us “enough is enough!”

But Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Highways, has responded: “We have a tried and tested highway inspection regime and respond appropriately to any safety priorities picked up during inspections.

“We have also recently introduced a new method of carriageway repairs which should help to maintain the service amidst the financial challenges we face.

“We also have a programme of surface dressing and resurfacing works that are now underway to address some of the highest priority sites for structural repairs, which is being funded through capital investment.”

He added that the pothole in Llansanffraid will be assessed by highways inspectors to see what remedial action is required.
