Zak eyes ‘local’ success

After the drama of round two, Zak Hughes and co-driver Tom Wood are looking to right their wrongs on Hughes' home rally.

Having won round one, Hughes and Wood are the first Fiesta over the start ramp in Welshpool on Saturday morning and will be hoping to get to the finish in the same position.

“I've been looking forward to this event all year, there's just some extra buzz about starting a rally in your home town,” he said. “It is going to be nice to get out on the stages with all my family and friends watching. The stages look great and I’m fortunate to have experience in these forests. After my own driver error last time out dropped us from the lead, I’ll be determined not to do the same again on Saturday.

“I have to say a big thank you to the Service department at Philip Paul Car Centre in Oswestry for doing two engine swaps in the car in the last two weeks.”
