An 11-year-old girl was allegedly racially abused before being chased in the town last Saturday evening.

Dyfed-Powys Police have shared details of the incident to appeal for information after a group of older children allegedly shouted comments about the colour of the girl’s skin and chased her between Berriew Street Car Park and Morrisons supermarket.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

PC Jim Baines, Welshpool Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Police will not tolerate any racist behaviour and I am appealing for anyone with information, or who saw this unpleasant incident, to come forward.”

Report information to PC Baines by visiting Welshpool Police Station or calling 101. If you are Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired text the non-emergency number on 07811 311 908. Quote reference: DPP/0056/12/05/2018/01/C
