Welshpool hit by freak floods after thunder storm

A thunder storm has seen Welshpool hit by freak flooding this morning with large parts of the town cut off.

Emergency services are battling to tackle the torrents of water streaming down off Borfa Green, Red Bank and Gungrog Hill.

Salop Road is closed to traffic and residents are warning motorists to avoid Borfa Green bank and the bottom of Gungrog Hill.

Fire crews are at Welshpool Hospital to keep the water out of the building with drains failing to cope with the water following one of the biggest electric storms seen or many years.
