Four-middable

The Air Show may be no more, but Welshpool enjoyed a spectacular and unannounced treat this morning.

All four helicopters from the Wales Air Ambulance performed a flyover in perfect formation, sending local residents to their key boards to ask why.

There is unofficial talk of a promotional video being filmed but a spokesperson for the service told us: “Our four aircraft were performing a specialist exercise over Mid-Wales airspace today. The crews remain on standby and are still able to respond to emergency calls.”

It provided a nice taster ahead of a proposed flyover by a Spitfire on Saturday as part of the Transport Festival which takes place this weekend.
