Despite being one of the toughest years in her career, Adele Nicoll has bounced back this weekend with an incredible double at the 101st Welsh Athletics Championships in Cardiff.

After a run of recent bad luck, which included a torn ligament in her hand, Adele showed the sort of determination that has made her one of Britain’s top throwers by winning both the Shot Putt and Discus senior titles.

“It’s been a challenging year battling injury, university deadlines and life stresses so I am absolutely delighted to have won these titles,” said Adele, who has only just completed her exams and handed in her dissertation.

With time being taken up by her studying commitments, somehow Adele has returned from injury with a vengeance and recently recorded a new personal best in the Discus of 47.42m. Her throw for Welsh gold on Friday was 44.80m.

She clinched her double on Saturday with a throw of 14.97m in the Shot Putt.
