A concert that treated its audience to a global evening has raised valuable money for charity.

The Castle Belles, a local female choir led by Elaine Buckland, held their ‘World Tour’ concert at Llanfair Leisure Centre.

It was a great success, raising £2,000 for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund which aims to raise £1.25 million to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer in our community.

This year’s concert consisted of a colourful display of costumes representing all corners of the world, from Irish dancing to Bob Marley in Jamaica.

The Castle Belles have been fundraising since they were established in 2012 and have raised £17,500 to date for local charities including Hope House, Cystic Fibrosis, Severn Hospice and Wales Air Ambulance.

Their next event is on September 28 for the 1940’s weekend in Welshpool. For more information follow their Facebook page ‘Castle Belles Choir’ or email castlebelles@btinternet.com.

“We would like to thank everybody that has attended our performances and for the loyal support they have shown over the years,” said a choir statement.
