Man confronts kids smoking drugs

A Welshpool man fed up with anti-social behaviour said he confronted several youths who he claims were smoking drugs next to playing fields in the town.

And now, Steve Bowen, has urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s activities during the summer holidays after claiming that some of them were as young as 14.

It follows a shocking find by MyWelshpoolco-founder David Williams of the left overs of what he says looked like a drugs and booze party in a grandstand in Guilsfield which left smashed glass strewn across the football pitch.

I would like some of the town’s parents to be aware of the fact that some youth are smoking drugs in the dug-out on Waterloo Rovers’ playing fields,” Steve told us. “Some as young as 14 years were doing it. Do you really know where your child is during the school holidays?”

Steve said he confronted the youngsters and has also passed his information onto the police, who regularly appeal to anyone who sees or suspects drug use to inform them immediately through 101.

The Guilsfield incident was worrying as the broken glass was left on the pitch where young kids have been playing during the holidays.

“I don’t particularly have a problem with youngsters hanging out and socialising in the grandstand, but when bottles and pint pots start being smashed it does become a problem,” said David. “The drugs aspect is particularly worrying though.”
