Following a hectic summer, Welshpool Women’s Institute are planning a busy autumn starting with their first meeting of the season on Wednesday.

The summer started well back in May, when several members won prizes at the Powys Montgomery Federation Spring Show at Trefeglwys.

In July, member Dianna Barlow hosted a cheese and wine party at her beautifully renovated house next to the group’s meeting place at the Methodist Church.

Also in July, Welshpool WI enjoyed a garden party at the home of member Dianne Woodcock where members were entertained by her friend Charlie.

In the July meeting, chaired by President, Linda Hilditch, members reminisced over scrapbooks put together to commemorate the new Millennium in 2000, and the centenary of the WI in 2015.

Members brought in cuttings photos and other memorabilia from past years and also photos of themselves as young children which sparked hilarious guessing games.

The remainder of the evening was taken up with planning next year’s programme of meetings and events followed by a supper provided by Mair Dennett and Margaret Jones.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7.30pm when Delyth Monk will induct members into the mysteries of soap making.

Anyone thinking of joining the group will be made very welcome, with enquiries to Linda on 01938 552267 or
