Future of Llanfair carnival in doubt
The event proved popular under the glorious summer sun back in June, but without an injection of volunteers it could have been the last edition.
A statement issued last night read: “Unfortunately this evening’s AGM has been abandoned. Due to resignations and no new members. Will the 2019 carnival go ahead? We are looking to fill the position of Chairperson and Treasurer plus other committee members. Next meeting will now be held in two weeks, date to be confirmed shortly. Will you show your support? It’s a Shame to lose a tradition.”
It is the second local carnival that has rung the alarm bells this summer with Welshpool set to review its future with an announcement expected soon.
