Foot chase nabbed drugs suspect

Welshpool Police have confirmed that they apprehended a male suspected of being involved in drug dealing following a foot chase through the town on Friday.

Members of the public took to social media after witnesses saw a number of officers in pursuit of a man, particularly down towards the canal area at Powysland Museum.

Last night it was confirmed that he was in custody.

“A male was arrested for being concerned in the supply of drugs following a foot chase by officers,” a spokesperson told us. “Information suggests he was offering drugs for sale, he has been questioned and enquiries are ongoing.”

Drugs use has become a growing problem in Welshpool recently but the police have reported some successes in combating the issue of late.
