A short service tonight followed by the laying of crosses will provide a fitting launch to Welshpool’s week of Remembrance.
It is 100 years since the guns fell silent to bring an end to World War I, and while most of the town’s events to mark the occasion happen at the weekend, the Field of Remembrance Service tonight will begin at 6.30pm. The Last Post will also be played.
The Town Council has distributed an excellent brochure to every household which includes a Roll of Honour with the 196 local names of those who lost their lives during the horrific conflict.
