Welshpool U3A meeting

The Welshpool & District U3A will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) when Ellie Targett’s talk will capture the mood of this week’s Remembrance activity in town.

He talk, entitled “another man’s shoes”, is about the trip her father made in 1944 to escape from Norway, overland to Sweden and the trip she made 60 years later following in her father’s footsteps.

It will be held in the COWSHACC at 10.30am although coffee, biscuits and general information will be available from 9.45am. Non-members are welcome to come and find out about the U3A and the groups and activities that form it.

Members of the committee will be around to answer any questions.

At the last meeting, the talk was delivered by one of the members, Angela Ormrod, on a trip she made on “Wainwright’s Coast to Coast”, the walk across Northern England devised by the great walker Alfred Wainwright.

It was a well-illustrated talk showing parts of the walk she had done, prompting several members to want to plan their own trip on the same route in the future.
