Local lad Warren Sinden came up short on his bid to become a Welsh Amateur Boxing Champion, but has vowed to come back stronger after his incredible run.
The 21 year-old had blazed a trail of glory all the way to last night’s (Friday) final at Cardiff’s Sofia Gardens. And with tremendous and vocal local support at ringside, as well as his popular father Mike in his corner, Warren didn’t let us down with a sterling performance.
But he just missed out, losing to Church Palace ABC fighter Ian Williams.
“Everything felt right going into the fight and it really did feel like it was to be so it is disappointing to lose,” Warren said after the fight. “I just want to thank everyone that got behind me for this competition, not just the final; sponsors, travelling fans and all the local press.
“It is time now to take a back step for a week and come back stronger. I want to give a special thanks to everyone that made the night tonight, the support was amazing.”
Warren studies sports science at Central Lancashire University, Preston, but is trained by his father Mike who has run the Welshpool Boxing Club for many years.
