The people of Powys have shown their collective appreciation for television star Joanna Lumley for her work in supporting the Gurkhas.
The Chairman of Powys County Council, Cllr Garry Banks, presented the Powys Gold Kite Award and Certificate of Appreciation for Exemplary Achievement to the star in recognition for her fight in highlighting the rights of Gurkhas who spend large chunks of their service based in the county.
Miss Lumley said: “I feel very honoured to receive this award and will wear the Gold Kite brooch with pride.”
Powys has a long association with the Gurkha Regiment who spend spend considerable time training in the challenging Mid Wales countryside.
