The day Berriew beat Welshpool 3-0
Who can remember this outstanding Berriew team of 1967?
Gareth Leach (pictured) has spent the last 25 years working in the hotel business on the beautiful Eastern Caribbean island of Saint Lucia but dropped in to see MyWelshpool on a visit home this week to deliver this photograph.
It was a memorable day for Gareth, who made his Mid Wales League debut as a 16-year-old for his home village team in a remarkable 3-0 win over all-conquering Welshpool Town.
And despite being marked by Derek Humphreys, his PE Teacher at Welshpool High School, Gareth notched one of the goals with Brian Perry and Wyn Owen scoring the others.
