Charity takes final retail park space

Hope House Children’s Hospices has today thrown open the doors to its new shop on the Tesco retail park in Welshpool.

The charity has relocated from its Broad Street shop, which closed last month for the transfer to the new premises that are twice the size.

Retail Manager Angela Whelan explained: “Our supporters are very generous with donations of clothes, books, toys, homeware and bric-a-brac and we have always struggled in our former shop to have everything on display.

“We do hope our customers will find our spacious new shop more enjoyable to explore, and that our donors will find it much, much easier to park for free and drop off donations.”

Angela thanked the shop’s staff and volunteers who had all pitched in to help with the move.

“We have brought all the free standing donated tables and units from our other shop, and Kronospan from Chirk have donated our amazing flooring so we have achieved the move with the minimum cost possible.

“That is really important because every penny raised through our 14 shops goes to provide vital support for terminally ill local children and their families, and bereaved families, and the more money we can raise the more children and families we can help.”

Store Manager, Gemma Cartwright, said that from the moment the store opened this morning at 9.15am people were coming in to shop and to bring in donations of stock.

“We will be open every day over Christmas apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day so please come down and have a browse,” she added.

If you would like to donate stock to the shop or volunteer please call in and see Gemma, or contact the shop on 01938 556333.
