Christmas was almost cancelled

A major supermarket brand has been blasted by some of our readers for ruining their Christmas due to what appears to have been a bad batch of turkeys.

Panicked locals went online Christmas morning to appeal for help after unwrapping their turkeys and claiming they were “rancid”. One reader said it stunk out his whole house.

It soon became apparent that all of those complaining had bought their Festive dinners from Aldi Welshpool in the week running into Christmas Day.

An Aldi spokesperson told us: “We are sorry that, in a small number of instances, we did not meet our usual high-quality standards. Customers can return any product that they are not satisfied with to their nearest store for a full refund.”

The Sun ran a report last night that a number of major supermarket names had come under fire from disappointed customers across the country for the quality of their turkeys.

But in true Christmas spirit, those who were expecting a write-off in the Welshpool area had their big day salvaged by the goodwill of friends, family and neighbours with heart-warming reports of people opening their homes, and fridges, to help out.
