Vandals strike at playground

Vandals have damaged equipment at the playground in Maes y Dre, leaving the Welshpool council tax payer with the bill to fix.

The damage happened at some point over the weekend and was inspected within 10 minutes of being reported yesterday (Monday).

“The site had been inspected on Friday with no issues, but within 10 minutes of the report on Monday the area was inspected and protected,” said a Town Council spokesperson who added that workers will be on site Tuesday to sort.

To rub salt into the wound, vandals have been back some time overnight to rip up several of the safety signs put in place to stop kids using the damaged equipment.

The site is covered by CCTV and the spokesperson said it will be used to find and hopefully prosecute the culprit(s).
