Monday 4^thApril 2011.

OTMS (40)

A good entry of OTM’s sold well to average 118ppkg for the cows, 123ppkg for the heifers and 151ppkg for a bull and 136ppkg for the steers. G I Francis & Co The Bryn sold a British Blue cow weighing 705kg to a top market price of £1092.75. G & S Joseph Cefn Vastre sold a Hereford cow weighing 785kg to £1012.65. RB & JA Jones Werndu presented a Blonde D’aquataine bull to £1061.53. G I Francis & Co The Bryn receive the Brairwood products Ltd price of £25 for the highest price older cow sold on the day.

FAT CATTLE (22)

An entry of 22 fat cattle sold well to average 166ppkg for the steers and 168ppkg for the Heifers. CJ & ME Williams Minysarn sold two fat heifers to a top market price of 189ppkg and 177ppkg which where both bought by M J Birtwistle & Co. D R Owen & Son Sandilands Farm presented three fat steers to 182ppkg 169ppkg and 168ppkg and a fat heifer to 180ppkg. The Briarwood Products Ltd prize of £25 this week goes to CJ & ME Williams Minysarn.

An entry of 95 spring lambs, selling to an overall average of 272ppkg

An entry of 4875 prime hoggets, selling to a fantastic overall average of 221.39ppkg.

Lights (360) to 217ppkg from T E Morris & Co Tynyfron. Others to 215ppkg from D J W Beamond Gorn Farm. Average of 205ppkg.

Standards (448) to 241ppkg from GW & WW Jones Hill Farm. Others to 235ppkg from F Humphreys & Son Moydog Fawr. Average of 214ppkg.

Mediums (1886) to 249pkg from M T Jones Elms Farm. Others to 248ppkg from Lythwood Sheep Ltd. Average of 224ppkg.

Heavies (1432) to 223ppkg from M P B Ashton Belanddu and CJ & LM Davies Lawns Farm. Other to 221ppkg from CJ & LM Davies Lawns Farm. Average of 209ppkg.

Over Weights (601) to 201ppkg from CJ & LM Davies Lawns Farm. Others to 200ppkg from Lythwood Sheep Ltd. Average of 188ppkg.

CULL EWE (1590)

A slightly reduced number of cull sheep on offer, selling to a fantastic average of £79.08 per for the ewes and £95 per head for the rams. TD & MJ Orrells Middle Llegodig sold cull ewes to £150 per head. G E Davies & Sons Cwm Bromley sold ewes to £135 per head. M Pryce Broomhill sold cull rams to a top market price of £156 per head.

STORE EWES & STORE LAMBS

Store Lambs

A small entry of 54 store lambs this week, selling to a very good average of £69.11.Dorset mixed and tup lambs topped the sale at £84 from E Findley Nantclyd Llanilar. Texel tup lambs sold to £78 from D Gregory Llyfriniog Uchaf. Texel theave lambs reached £72.50. Suffolk mixed and clean lambs were up to £72 from R E Jones & Co Lower Brimmon. Sale of Store Lambs to commence at 10.30am next week.

In Lamb Hogs

A small entry of In Lamb hoggs sold to £85 from A W Jones Cil Llwch Farm.

Couples

Another large entry of 200 couples this week were offered for sale, selling to an average of £107.64. As found ewes with twin lambs at foot topped the sale at £172 from J H Breeze South Moelygarth Guilsfield. Two year old ewes with single lambs reached £132 from E Findlay Nantyclyd. Two year old ewes with twin lambs at £158 from I & J Evans Llwynhywel. Four year old ewes with twin lambs sold to £172 from J B C Gwillim Bwlchgarth. Sale of couples to commence at approx 11am next week. A special entry of 40 Welsh ewes with twin beltexx lambs at foot aged 2 year olds to As found.

Cade Lambs

72 cade lambs entered the market this week selling to a fantastic average of £16.38. Top price was £26 from DM & DI Jerman Moelywigoedd Tregynon. Sale of cade lambs to commence at approx 12 noon next week.
