Welshpool High School’s all weather pitch and Llanfyllin High School’s accessibility will be improved as part of a £2 million package of school improvements set for approval by Powys County Council.

The all weather facility at Welshpool High School will have £25,000 spent on improving its drainage and flood-prevention, while boiler, security work and disability access improvements will cost £150,000 at Llanfyllin High School.

The work is part of the major improvements plan in the coming financial year expected to be rubber stamped by the county council’s cabinet on March 26.

Cabinet Member for Learning and Welsh Language, Councillor Myfanwy Alexander said: “The projects detailed in this document represent a substantial investment by the County Council in schools across the county as part of our ambition to provide all young people with appropriate learning environments for 21st Century Education.”

Another £400,000 will be invested in a number of schools around the county to improve energy efficiency.
