Welshpool Hospital says it is still being affected by the diarrhoea and vomiting bug known as norovirus, resulting in its Maldwyn Ward and Minor Injuries Service nightshift remain closed.

The hospital confirmed that the virus, which struck the hospital on Sunday, will again impact the Minor Injuries Services tonight as the shift is covered by nurses from the Maldwyn Ward.

“We regret that this also means that the Minor Injury Service at Welshpool Hospital is temporarily closed overnight (currently 9pm to 8.30am),” a spokesperson said.

“For advice about minor injuries overnight please contact NHS 111 by dialling 111 for free health information and advice when it is urgent but not life-threatening.

“Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience, and the service will resume once the cases of diarrhoea and vomiting on the ward have cleared.”
