Welshpool launches climate action plan

Welshpool Town Council has issued a 23-point action plan to play its part in tackling the climate problems that are gripping the planet.

Last night, the local authority said it was pressing ahead after declaring a ‘Climate Emergency’ last month to ensure the town is at the leading edge of addressing climate change.

The plan includes simple points like introducing waterless urinals to all of its toilets, implementing an annual tree planting programme and also reducing its paper use, but joined together they make a responsible statement.

“The Town Council has not only declared a Climate Emergency but has an action plan to make it meaningful,” said Robert Robinson, Town Clerk.

Vehicle use, light bulbs, building insulation and equipment efficiency will also come under the microscope as part of the plan.
