Red Bank closure next week

As if the one-way works wasn’t going to be a big enough headache, a key road will be also closed for unconnected works on May 2 and 3.

Work on changing the controversial road system will get underway on Monday, but there will be a double whammy for motorists following confirmation that Red Bank will also be closed for unconnected work.

The one-way is expected to take 10 weeks at least, but Red Bank will be shut on Thursday and Friday only.

“The restriction is in place from the junction with the A458, to the junction onto Brookfield Road,” the notice states. “The closure is on behalf of Overlec to replace overhead cables. Residents' access will be maintained and emergency vehicles access will be maintained.

“The alternative route will be signposted.”

It is the second time that the road has been closed this year following a three-day closure in January following water pipe bursts The road has also become a road hazard at the narrow entry off the one-way with regular reports of wing mirrors being hit.
