Plans have been revealed for the re-opening of Welshpool’s centre-piece public house – The Pinewood Tavern.

A planning application has been received by Powys County Council which would see The Pinewood doors re-opening and the upstairs living accommodation converted to five flats.

The application says: “C.T.D.E. is commissioned to act as design and planning consultants appointed by M.K.H. Portfolio Ltd. to seek planning consent for the improvement and alterations to an existing public house and to increase the number of self-contained flats over, requiring internal alterations.”

Outwardly the plans reveal the repositioning of the main entrance to it’s original site on the corner of Broad Street and Hall Street which many will remember from the days when the public house was the Boar’s Head.

Other suggested changes are the introduction of slide and fold full length doors, replacing the current lounge windows.

The Pinewood has been closed for over a year.
