Town’s new tourist attraction

24/05/2019 @ 08:54

The town council is hoping that ‘herds’ of people will accept an invitation to visit the work carried out at the Old Cattle Docks on Monday.

The area just off the by-pass roundabout, opposite Tesco, has been refurbished using grant money so it won’t be directly costing the local tax payer.

All will be revealed on Monday, including its future plans, from 10am-3pm in the Corn Exchange of the Town Hall. There are also tours around the site to see the works at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm courtesy of a free minibus from the Town Hall.

“The event is in the form of displays which show the refurbishment works of the old railway cattle docks along with the history associated with that area of Welshpool,” said a project spokesperson.

“There is a timeline with pictures from the early 1800's through to date. Also there will be details of what is proposed for the Motte and Bailey Castle.

“There will be other displays from CPAT, the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, Victoria Bowling Club and the Town Council.”

Refreshments are also being served.
