Andrew Logan Museum summer opening

The sparkling Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture (ALMoS) in picturesque Berriew opens its doors for its 28^th season on Saturday (June 1) at noon.

ALMoS - the nation’s first museum dedicated to a living artist - is a fantastical jewelled treasure trove housing a glittering selection of Logan’s signature sculptures and jewellery, portraiture, photos and costumes.

The riverside museum houses original costumes and memorabilia from Logan’s renowned Alternative Miss World contests, a shrine to the late Divine - one of many works inspired by Andrew’s friends and muses - and other dazzling treasures.

The four-metre tall Cosmic Egg (pictured) is back home this season, after being out on loan to the National Trust’s Buckland Abbey property in Devon last year.

ALMoS opened on August Bank Holiday 1991 to a literal fanfare and Andrew wielding oversized scissors to a crowd including Dame Zandra Rhodes, designer Celia Birtwell, the late Dr John Menkes and Andrew’s own family.

Many have travelled since to Berriew to visit, including Rocky Horror Show’s Richard O’Brien and Patricia Quinn, Anita Pallenberg, Mavis Nicholson, Molly Parkin, Fenella Fielding, Rula Lenska and Amanda Barrie.

ALMoS is open Saturdays and Sundays – as well as August Bank Holiday Monday - in June, July, August and September from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children, students and concessions.
