‘We’re sorry for the noise’

29/05/2019 @ 02:05

Following a wave of complaints about the noise created throughout the night by work on the one-way system, the contractors have issued an apology.

In a joint statement from them, Powys County Council and Welshpool Town Council (WTC), issued this afternoon by WTC, those responsible said they will do their best to limit any noise beyond 10pm tonight.

The full statement reads:

“We apologise for the noise with the works in Church Bank/Salop Road last evening. The works will continue overnight again today/tomorrow but with much less noise.

“Every effort will be made to keep noise to an absolute minimum with any noisy work ending by 11pm (We will try for 10pm).

“However, the first evening was always going to be the worst. The contractors, PCC and WTC are meeting again on Thursday morning to review how we progress from here. Thank you all for your patience.”

Readers contacted us throughout the night complaining about the noise created by the work on tweaking the one-way system. The night work was expected to continue for a fortnight.
