Kicking up a stink over Ardwyn dog poo

18/04/2011 @ 01:49

Welshpool’s school kids may be thinking about their Easter holidays, but some parents have kicked up a stink over a dog poo problem near a popular school.

Dog poo has become the talk amongst parents who send their children to Ardwyn School on Red Bank, and they claim the problem has gotten out of control.

One mother, who asked not to be named but sends her girl to the school, said: “I am totally disgusted! I live very close so I tend to walk her to school every day and the problem has got a lot worse this term.

“There is so much dog muck on Dingle Road, and Brookfield Road also has some. I am fed up with this and a lot of other parents have said the same thing. Somebody has even let their dog do its stuff by the grass right next to the school!”

The mother said that she has already seen a child step in some and believes some of the parents are considering an action group to address the problem.

“It’s just not fair as it makes decent dog owners who do pick it up look bad. A minority are spoiling it for the majority but something has to be done as children’s health is at risk,” she said.
