BT confirm one-way work schedule

BT engineers have been on site today after it was revealed that one of their cables was to blame for a six-week delay to the new town centre road system being completed.

The fibre optic cable turned up in an area where it was not thought to be, and it has brought some of the work to a standstill until the area could be surveyed.

That happened this morning and BT confirmed that they will start their work on August 8 and it is expected to take up to 10 days.

In a further update, planners say that Broad Street and High Street (The Cross to Jehu Road) will be closed from 8pm to 6am on Monday, August 12, for resurfacing and lining.
