WI group is back!

As more scarecrow ladies continue to appear across the Welshpool area to celebrate 100 years of the Women’s Institute, there is more good news with a local branch re-forming.

After a couple of trial runs, the Long Mountain WI has attracted sufficient interest to give it another go with their first ‘proper’ meeting held last week.

Members were introduced to laughing yoga by Charlotte Woodford to make for an enjoyable evening and whet the appetite for more.

The next meeting is at 7.30pm on September 18 in Leighton Village Hall with an open invite for more ladies to attend.

The new club’s officers are: Deb Evans, president; Elaine Newson, secretary; and Jane Tibbott, treasurer.

Regional chairman, Jean Hurrell, said that it was good news for the movement and timely with the centenary celebrations in full swing.
