‘Rogue line’ work complete

There are hopes today that the chaotic work that is transforming the town centre’s pavements and road system could be completed by Bank Holiday weekend.

In the latest update, contractors have said that BT have finished their work on the rogue line that was discovered in the final stages of the job in late July, forcing a six-week delay.

The work has been done earlier than expected, bringing high hopes that we could see the system in place for the busy long weekend.

It is also expected that all the work in Church Street and outside the Town Hall will also be finished this week, along with the final works on Jehu Road.

However, Church Street could be closed on Wednesday evening from 6pm-midnight to allow for traffic light sensor works.
