Guilsfield was plunged into darkness for nearly two hours on Easter Sunday, and it is thought a cable damaged in a garden caused the outage.
More than 250 homes lost power at around 7pm, just as an Elvis tribute act was warming his vocal chords for 100 revellers at the local King’s Head.
And a Scottish Power insider told mywelshpool this morning that a cable in a private garden has been identified as the trouble spot. The current owners of the residence were unaware of the damage and not to blame for the black-out.
“There has been a cable damaged before due to building work on the edge of the village and it appears that it has gone again,” he said. “We used a back-up system which is still in use because it could be tomorrow before we get a digging team out.”
The back-up system kicked in at around 9pm and the King’s Head show went ahead... thankfully Elvis had not left the building!
