Llanfyllin Mayor to run for Parliament

28/09/2019 @ 08:55

Llanfyllin Mayor, Simon Baynes, has confirmed that he will be the Conservative candidate to contest the Clwyd South seat at the next General Election.

Mr Baynes, who also contested the seat in 2017, is Chair of the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust and a founder of the Monty Lit Fest, and will hope to overturn a 4,356 majority that Labour’s Susan Jones currently holds.

“Very honoured to have been selected as the Welsh Conservatives Parliamentary candidate for Clwyd South,” he said. “Greatly looking forward to being out on the campaign trail supporting Boris Johnson."

Labour won with 19,002 votes two years ago, 4,356 more than Cllr Baynes in second.
