Public meeting over 100k-chicken Berriew plans

13/10/2019 @ 08:47

Plans for a 100,000-bird chicken farm near Berriew will be discussed at a public meeting called for October 17 at 6.30pm.

Residents are concerned about the impact that the facility at Groes Y Garreg would have on the village, so the meeting is being held to highlight potential issues.

“Anyone who may have concerns about the planning application is invited to an informal meeting in the small ground floor room of the Community Centre,” said a spokesperson.

“This very informal meeting and has been arranged by local residents closest to this proposed development and whilst we are likely to be the most adversely affected by it, we are very aware that this proposed development affects the whole village and further afield.

“The consequences of lorry movements, traffic, and public health are completely unknown to many people locally.”

It is thought that the plan will be discussed by the community council the following week, with their recommendations to be made to Powys County Council who make the final decision.

The full plan can be seen here.
