Trains are running…. slowly

The trains to Shrewsbury are running this weekend, but passengers will need to be patient with speeds dropping to as low as 5mph.

The line reopened yesterday following the storms, but mud is on the track in places meaning the trains will be reducing their speeds.

“Following flooding between Welshpool and Shrewsbury, the line has now reopened,” said a spokesperson for Transport For Wales Rail. “Speed restrictions will be in place in the affected area until Sunday. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 45 minutes.”

However, there were reports of some later trains being cancelled last night, with a bus replacement service operating.
