Building works overseen by Powys County Council’s Building Control Team have been successful at a national awards ceremony in London.
The Best Extension to an Existing Home award was presented to M P Fergusson Building Contractors and Powys County Council at the LABC Building Excellence Awards.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards focus on the very best in technical innovation and construction quality, helping to raise building standards across England and Wales.
The winning extension is located at Glynmeddig, Sennybridge, and was praised by judges for its ‘attention to detail and excellent workmanship’.
Nigel Brinn, Corporate Director of Economy and Environment at Powys County Council, said: “For this project to be recognised at such a high level is an exceptional achievement.
“My congratulations go out to M P Fergusson, the owners of the extension, and to our Building Control Team.
“To add to this success, the timber frame – which was described as ‘exquisite’ by the judges - was supplied by Welsh Oak Frame, based in Caersws.
“This is a great example of local companies working together to deliver sustainable buildings of the highest quality.”
This is the second All England & Wales Award for Building Excellence that Powys County Council’s Building Control Team have won in the last three years.
