Guilsfield’s Lunch Club is on the look-out for a new cook to keep it going.
The Lunch Club has been running for five years since Powys County Council stopped providing Meals on Wheels.
It meets twice a month in the Old School on the second and fourth Wednesdays with up to 24 people enjoying a main course and a pudding followed by tea or coffee in the room, and deliveries made to about another six.
“We have a hard working team of volunteers in the kitchen, front of house and collecting people and delivering meals, the buzz of noise in the room is amazing,” said a spokesperson.
“Carol Williams has been our dedicated cook, and without her it would not have started. She has decided it is time to move on in the spring, so we are looking for a volunteer to head up the kitchen team, planning and cooking meals. We are lucky that Carol has given us plenty of notice, so somebody new starting will be able to work with her for a handover period.”
