Emergency shutdown impacts town’s power

An emergency shutdown of power to several areas of Welshpool could continue for several hours this evening.

Power started to be cut to areas of town late morning with SP Energy Networks saying it was required so that its engineers could carry out the emergency shutdown from 3pm and allow an unstable tree close to the substation to be removed.

“This may affect the supply to your property,” said a spokesperson who added that “we will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible”.

It is expected that the work will be completed by 8pm.

The areas impacted are: SY217AD, SY217AR, SY217AT, SY217AU, SY217AX, SY217AY, SY217BL, SY217SU.
