A star is born!

Local lad Reece Wiltshire-Fessey is on the brink of international superstardom after coming through tonight’s audition to reach Sunday’s live final for The X-Factor: The Band.

The Llansantffraid lad, formerly from Guilsfield, blew away the panel of judges that included music boss Simon Cowell, and singing stars Leona Lewis and Nicole Scherzinger.

He has booked his ticket to Sunday’s final in front of thousands of fans at the Birmingham Arena and millions more on ITV.

Tonight, Reece, 19, faced an agonising wait for his chance, watching 10 solo artists go ahead of him before he burst onto the stage last with his sensational version of When the Party’s Over by Billy Eilish.

After the emotional performance, he broke down in tears (pictured) with his mum Gayle, brother Alan and sister Sabrina cheering from the front row.

Judge ‘Naughty Boy’ called it his favourite audition of the night. Nicole said “Hashtag I love Reece!” while Cowell was first on his feet to give a standing ovation.

He then joined eight on the shortlist for a group song, before judges put him through with five others to make the boy band for Sunday night’s ITV finale.

On Sunday, the newly formed boy band will square off against the girl band selected on Wednesday to see who will get the major record contract with Cowell’s label.

Earlier today, Reece shared a video on Twitter urging children from his former school in Guilsfield to “reach for the stars”.
