Welshpool meeting to scrutinise water companies
Suppliers in Wales will join the Water Watchdog at its public meeting to examine how water services in rural Wales could be safeguarded for the future. There will be a discussion on the steps companies are taking to ensure a reliable service for all, against a backdrop of challenges including, climate change, population growth and other environmental factors.
Members of the public are welcome to join the meeting, which will include presentations by Hafren Dyfrdwy and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water on water and wastewater services in rural Wales.
The companies will be discussing the actions they are taking to improve services for customers, which includes investment to improve water and wastewater networks. The Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) will also join the meeting with a presentation on private water supplies in Wales.
The Consumer Council for Water’s Wales Chair, Rhodri Williams, said: “This meeting is an important opportunity for water companies to demonstrate that they have robust plans in place to safeguard water supplies for the future.
“For customers too, it is a chance to share their opinion on what matters to them when it comes to service.”
Members of the public wishing to attend will have the opportunity to put their questions or concerns directly to the companies and members of CCWater’s Wales Committee.
The watchdog will also explore the issue of social value, and the ways in which water companies can work more collaboratively for the benefit of all customers.
