Help save family’s Christmas

Hundreds of pounds have been raised for the family whose Christmas was ruined by the washing machine house fire in Middletown on Tuesday.

Karen Moore has set up a Just Giving page for her daughter Karen whose house was badly damaged when her washing machine sparked a blaze while they were asleep.

Thankfully Kerry and her boys escaped the fire unscathed, but there was extensive damage to the home including most of the family’s Christmas presents.

And last night the community came out in a blaze of support, with the £500 target smashed and more money rolling in to make this a special Christmas for the family.

“On Tuesday, my daughter Kerry sadly became the victim of a house fire due to the washing machine setting the house alight whilst asleep,” said Karen.

“Kerry and the boys managed to escape from the house fire unscathed, so I am trying to raise funds to help Kerry give her boys a lovely Christmas as most of what was bought was damaged by smoke.”

Karen then appealed to people to check their washing machines to make sure they are not the ones that have been recalled this week before adding: “My heart goes out to Kerry, I feel helpless.”

Fire chiefs also issued a warning to not leave washing machines unattended following the blaze which was attended by fire fighters from Welshpool.

If you would like to help Karen save Christmas for her daughter and grandsons, you can donate through here.
